- PUPPY TRAINING SALLY WOJHAN "AUNTIE SALLY"
My focus has always been on family pet classes. The basics puppies learn will help them in whatever activities they want to pursue. Class has social play for the puppies with an emphasis on safety and comfort for each puppy. I address puppy issues such as biting, potty training, jumping on people…basic training behaviors such as sit, down, come, leave it, drop it, walking nicely on leash, responding to name, nose target to hand (teaches gentle activity to humans and helps in recall). I work on preparation for calm toenail trimming and other husbandry activities. Dog/dog safety and dog/children safety is emphasized. Techniques are all modern, positive reinforcement based.
My background includes a Master’s degree in education with a graduate minor in psychology (actually very helpful in dog training) with a 17 year career in Oregon higher ed. I have served as VP on the Board of Directors for the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and have been an invited speaker twice for The Association of Professional Dog Trainers annual conferences. I have agility titles on my older Boston terrier, as well as Nosework title and 3 levels of AKC Trick Dog Title. My younger Boston has one level of AKC Trick Dog and is currently in a Nosework class with me. I teach classes at Creature Comforts in Milwaukie ( 15106 SE McLaughlin) on Saturdays and at Trainers to the Rescue in Cornelius/Hillsboro area ( 32400 SW Unger Road) on Sundays.
Thank you for asking for this info. It is probably more than you wanted, but that is me in a nutshell.
